She is (I AM) Light: A Work In Progress Part 13: Putting it Into Words

I believe it is an artist's responsibility to effectively communicate their ideas which is why right now, I'm confused and a little embarrassed about the artist statement I wrote and distributed last week:

"She is (I AM) Light" is about healing, self-love, and having blind faith in the creation process that can take you there.

"She is (I AM) Light" speaks to body image and of self-awareness, of being able to see within yourself what others see in you. ("At your core, you are perfect.") The large blue body (armor) is starting to crack but can't do so without acceptance (arms spread) of fear, resistance and imperfection. (Depicted here through repetition of energetic prayers in the form of mantra and affirmation.) The Six Guardian mandala pieces speak to our never having to do the work alone. Angels, Ancestors, and Spirit Guides watch over us and gently guide us to becoming our whole, true selves - "Who I am but only that others can see" is the me that will be revealed to all.

I apologize. It seemed clear in the moment.

This is my new statement:

"She is (I AM) Light" is about the acknowledgment and acceptance of our full radiant selves. It is about healing, self-love, and  having faith that we can become whole again. During this process, our armor begins to crack and will eventually fall away as we begin to embrace that which we have resisted most: Our Greatness.

The Six Guardian Mandalas are representative of our never having to do the work alone - angels, ancestors, and spirit guides are always around us, gently nudging and guiding us along our path to becoming our whole, true selves.

After Friday's opening of this exhibit, I will finish the "in progress" series of posts. I think I'm finished with all 7 pieces... I just need to sign them.
