Just got my first bottles of J. Herbin Ink. In fact they are my first ever bottled inks. I write with a Cara 'd Ache Leman or a Parker Duofold. I put in my Leman J. Herbin - Cacao du Brésil. I like the color it is not black or brown or gray, It is like a dark grey with some brownish to it. So far I like it.
Could you tell something about how you fill your pen's with a converter? My first time was very clumsy :-) Sucked the Ink up with the converter screwed in. But got some air in it. So I turned it around, just tick to it and try to blow out the air. But along came al those popping Ink-bubles :-( Maybe you have a better idea?
Richard - if you've shaken your ink, allow it to settle for a few moments before attempting to fill pen. (Let the bubbles settle) Using a converter is a bit like playing a game. Sometimes it works turning it slow, sometimes fast, sometimes it fills with bubbles..... Usually I twist it back out (ink back into bottle) and refill again if I get air or bubbles. I still like to use a converter over cartridges, or piston fillers.
I cheat because I use a syringe to fill converters -- no bubbles! I also re-cycle cartridges the same way (after rinsing with water and the syringe).
Stephanie,
Thanks for all these fun reviews. I really enjoy them. I just don't know how you do it. I love J. Herbin inks there are just certain colors that don't suit my personality. Most browns and greens I'd just ignore. Did you find any inks that you liked but would never have thought of trying out?
Julia - I don't think that's cheating - I just don't like to do it because then I have to flush the syringe. :o)
To Mr. EOO - I do it because it's fun... like playing in a way. And yes... I've tried ones that I didn't think I'd like. Some I still didn't, and some I ended up loving. Bleu Pervenche & Rose Cyclamen are great examples of inks I'd never thought I'd like because I wasn't reallt into bright colors. Guess I was wrong!
