A Blooming Mandala for my Blooming Allergies

Blooming Mandala

I seriously feel as though I have lost a week of my life.

I can't tell you how long it's been since I've had such problems with allergies. This time, I managed to launch myself into a nice full blown sinus infection with throat glands the size of baseballs. And I'm sad to say that even though my throat felt like the 7th layer of hell, I was still smoking... What is wrong with me? I'm really going to need to stop that sometime soon.

I usually manage to avoid these problems at this type of year by using a product called "Sinus Support Compound" by a company called Herbal & Alchemist, and by taking the occasional shot of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water with a few shakes of cayenne pepper thrown in for good measure. Maybe I wasn't as diligent as I should have been because WOW did I ever suffer. I'm still not at 100%, but Tylenol, Sudafed, and a few gargles of warm salt/cayenne water have helped a lot.

I'm finally feeling a bit more like myself - I had been walking around in this fog and it was driving me crazy!

The Mandala turned out beautifully, and I love the colour choices. Sorry about your terrible sinus infection, but glad to hear you are getting better.

Well, Biff, did you think it was straight/symmetrical when you were drawing it? (If you were feeling loopy, it may have transferred to the artwork.) :P

I absolutely love how it almost seems to move on the periphery of my vision... almost as though we're viewing it through a really clear aquarium or a glass of water.

I feel your pain; I've been suffering from allergies since about the age of 9 (symptoms included non-stop runny nose for about three hours in the morning). I've not tried this myself, but have heard rave reviews of the Neti Pot. It's supposed to clear your sinus space through means of irrigation, but I can't get my head around squirting water up my nose.

Feel better! It is hard to give up smoking. I tell people that when I die they can find me in the smoking section of the heavenly bar car! I tried for years and smoked a pack and a half a day when I finally gave it up. I heard about a Russian man in the Boston area who cured smokers by sound. I went to him, and haven't had a cigarette since..
Let me know when/if you are ever ready to stop and I'll send you his name. Be well and take it easy. Karen

I was fortunate to find an ear/nose/throat practice that is anti-surgery. I've gone from 4-7 sinus infections a year to 1, maybe 2, by using NeilMed Sinus Rinse products twice a day. I mix my own rinse, just sea salt and warm water.
I'm not familiar with Herbal & Alchemist products.

Beautiful mandala. I've never made one but you may have inspired me to do so :)

Allergies are awful. I suffered with them since childhood and finally cured myself a few years ago by doing something amazingly simple: I started drinking more water! I can't believe the difference it's made. Give it a try. It can't hurt.
