"J. Herbin is the oldest name in pen inks in the world. M. Herbin created “The Jewel of Inks” in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700."
"Each bottle of 30 ml has an integrated pen rest. They are known as “D bottle pen inks. The “D” refers to the old French unit of measure “la Demi Courtine”.

Canteo journal with ivory paper on the left, Clairefontaine Basics with bright white paper on the right.

Larmes de Cassis is a smooth free-flowing ink that has a bit of nice shading. It shows darker on ivory paper, and lighter on white.

It's a pretty dusty mauve color that unfortunately for me, is too light for writing.

It is however, quite wonderful to draw with.
Herbin inks run $8.75 per 30ml bottle at Pear Tree Pens

Interesting that it darkens as it dries.
I have this ink, in the prefilled canisters. I quite like it for writing, i find it to be quite dark against my white sketchpaper. I love pairing with with my brand new J herbin Gris Nuage.

It's a really pretty colour. I think I'll have to definitely try some of these inks sometime soon.
Erin - yes - I see lots of inks change color, and sometimes darken, sometimes lighten.
Liz - glad it works for you. I always know when I don't like something for whatever reason, other people might. :o)
Gentian - it is very pretty, just too light for my tastes. (For writing)
